Feed Conversion

Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) is one of the Key Performance Indicators for all livestock enterprises.

On most chicken growing farms a change in FCR of 0.02:1 has a financial value of 4.50 euros per tonne of feed. This can affect the profitability by up to 0.02 euros per bird.

FCR can be improved by temperature control, disease management and avoiding feed wastage.

On many farms the major factor affecting FCR is the quality and specification of the feed.
