Performance Enhancers - Genex Pig

The uncertain future over antimicrobial digestive enhancers led Optivite to conduct detailed Research and Development programmes to investigate alternative solutions. As a result of this work the range of Genex Pig products has been developed.

Genex Pig has been shown to significantly control pathogenic bacteria in feed: e.g E coli, Salmonella and clostridia. It has been shown that as a consequence of this there is a positive effect on the pigs intestinal bacteria. In addition, Genex Pig has proven effects against moulds and yeast species in feed.

Successful comparisons have been made against the most popular antibiotic digestive enhancers. The performance of feeds containing Genex Pig has been as good as and often better than these products in a wide range of farm environments. Furthermore feeds containing both Genex Pig and antibiotic digestive enhancers have yielded enhanced performance, with significant cost benefits.

• Improved feed conversion by 0.1 to 0.3
• Improved lean percentage of 0.4 to 1.3%

The continual improvement of Genex Pig products has led to the development of specific products for different specific stages of the pigs life:

• Genex Weaner for feeding from weaning to 30 kg liveweight stimulates early muscle growth leading to fewer days to slaughter and leaner carcasses
• Genex Opticid Pig for feeding from weaning to slaughter improves muscle gain for a leaner carcass and significantly improved feed conversion ratio.
• Genex Sow improves sow fertility, increases piglet birth weight and reduces both pre- and post-weaning mortality.
