Mycotoxin Binders - Mycobond
The impacts of mycotoxins are an increasing issue around the world. Working on the principle of sequestration of specific molecules, Mycobond provides an economical solution to this growing problem. It is based on a specific blend of mineral materials that show a high affinity for a wide range of the common mycotoxins affecting animal production today.
Mycotoxin binding begins in the dry feed, but Mycobond exerts its full effect when in the fluid conditions of the digestive system of the animal. Once bound, mycotoxins remain trapped and the Mycobond-mycotoxin complex passes through the system to be voided safely in the faeces. By preventing absorption of the toxins into the animal's body, their harmful effect can be avoided.
Scientific review has shown that the Mycobond method of dealing with mycotoxins in animal feedstuffs is the most reliable, consistent and economically viable way of protecting your feed.
Silicon and aluminium, the principal components of Mycobond, in their oxide forms tend to assume regular polygonal structures. Silicon becomes tetrahedral whilst aluminium, in conjunction with this becomes octahedral.

The tetrahedra bond together to form a flat layer or sheet,
as do the octahedra. Because of polarities the octahedral sheet
becomes sandwiched between two tetrahedral sheets and these structures
are held in place relative to each other by electrostatic bonds.
This results in a very open lattice structure, which can hold
certain molecules. Mycotoxins, due to their molecular size and
electrical charges become trapped within the molecular structure.
