Enzymes - Optimise
The advantages of using enzymes in cereal based feeds for monogastric animals are well established. Using specific enzyme combinations to enhance the digestibility of non-starch polysaccharides is now common practice and has important economic benefits. More recently, the idea of using phytase enzymes has become accepted as producers are learning of its practical and financial benefits.
Optivite has been able to use its enzyme technology to combine these two concepts in the Optimise range of products with remarkable results. Far from being a simple additive effect there is a demonstrable synergy between the various activities. This is understandable since the phytic acid ring structure found in vegetable materials that binds phosphorus as phytate also complexes other nutrients such as proteins and carbohydrates. Phytase breaks this ring structure and release these previously unavailable nutrients.
The outcome is a very significant increase in nutrient digestibility that must be recognised when formulating feeds supplemented with phytase. The net result can be a large saving in feed cost, or improved performance, or a combination of both! In the modern world of rising feed prices these effects are too important to ignore.
Practical experience from the use of Optimise has demonstrated a return on investment of up to 3:1.
Optimise is available in a convenient powder form, suitable for most situations. Due to the normal heat sensitivity of enzymes, where the feed production process involves significant heat, it is advisable to use Optimise in liquid form, to spray onto the feed after the pelleting and cooling stage
