Antimicrobials - Salgard

Optivite has been significantly involved in the control of bacteria in animal feeds for over a decade. Originally designed to combat salmonella contamination of poultry feeds, Salgard has been continually developed and is a complete antibacterial package.

Our research has shown that Salgard is equally effective against all types of pathogenic Gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Campylobacter , Listeria and Clostridia as well as certain Gram positive organisms such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus.

Through in-depth knowledge of the mechanisms of antibacterial action and precise combination of the most effective antibacterial agents, Salgard is able to control problematic bacteria in a natural, non-pharmaceutical way. At the same time, beneficial bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Bacteroides. are spared, their populations being allowed to proliferate. In this way a healthy microfloral population can be encouraged.

This has important repercussions for the animal. Less competition for feed nutrients and less damage to the digestive system mean that a more healthy, more productive animal can be reared.
