Pets
The nutrition of companion animals is a specialist area of the
animal feed sector. It is important to have specific knowledge
of the digestive systems and consequent dietary requirements
of each species.
A quality balanced diet is essential for show,
working and breeding animals and the family pet alike. In addition
to
supporting general
health and well-being, a balanced diet is necessary to ensure
good coat, skin, and teeth.
An important factor in the provision of a complete diet is
the correct supplementation of vitamins and minerals.
Optivite has the knowledge and expertise to
specify the correct level of micronutrients in pet foods, preventing
the onset
of costly metabolic disorders. Our specialist mixing facility
enables
the manufacture of specific Vitamin
Mineral Supplements for
use in feed for all species.
With flexibility in the petfood factory a priority, we produce
both low and high inclusion premixes either as Optivite
brands or custom blends to suit all companion animals.
To control oxidation in critical nutrients and to extend
shelf life we produce a range of quality Antioxidants including fully
natural and proven products.
Modern diets are often deficient in omega-3 fatty acids and contain a high proportion of omega-6s resulting in a sub-optimal ratio of these important dietary constituents. The main reason for this is an increasing reliance on vegetable fats for energy. The addition of the essential omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are known to have positive benefits. Our own extensive trial work using Optomega omega-3 fatty acid supplement in pet foods has clearly shown the benefit of including Optomega in the diet.
